The 2010 Wyoming Art Show has not only attracted the finest artists from over seven states, it has become a destination for sophisticated art buying public in the greater Cincinnati tri-state area. The 2010 Wyoming Art Show is our 25th year!
SHOW DATE: May 16, 2010 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. APPLICATION DEADLINE: March 7, 2010 SHOW LOCATION: 1 Worthington Ave. and Springfield Pike, Wyoming, OH 45215 (Greater Cincinnati Area) REQUIREMENTS: Images: 3 Jury Fee: $20.00* *Jury Fee exempted for artists who participated in the 2009 show. Use coupon code "2009". Exception: the categories Fiber and Jewelry are entirely re-juried in 2010. ABOUT THE SHOW: • 25th annual show • More than 150 juried exhibitors from more than seven states participate annually • Over $4,500 in professionally judged cash awards. • Our tree-lined streets provide ample shade for artists. • Artists may choose to enter our professionally judged competition only or may choose to enter for booth selling space and the competition. • Refreshments provided during setup. • Artists’ reception held at show conclusion with refreshments and prize award presentations. • Our reputation and publicity ensure a sophisticated and enthusiastic buying public. • Food court with selections to please everyone. • Family-friendly FREE children’s activities and student art exhibit attract hundreds of art-loving families. • Free parking, Free admission • Strolling musicians add to the relaxed ambiance. NEW IN 2010: RETURNING ARTISTS ENTRIES PREFERRED VIA ZAPPLICATION. Mailed entries are accepted; download from "Returning Artist" page of website. Returning artists who participated in the 2009 Wyoming Art Show are once again invited back jury-exempt and without a jury fee. Returning artists in Fiber and Jewelry categories are exempt from the jury fee but are re-juried in 2010. INSTRUCTIONS: ZAPPLICATION entries: Deadline March 7. Must be accompanied by 3 digital images of your work. The jury fee is waived (use coupon code "2009"). Fiber and Jewelry do NOT send booth/competition entry fee until you receive acceptance notice. All other categories MUST make your booth/competition entry fee payment when you submit your entry. MAILED entries must be postmarked by March 7. Fiber and Jewelry entries MUST include a CD with 3 digital images of your work. All other categories must include booth/entry fee and may include CD with 3 digital images of your work.. NOTE: OPENINGS FOR NEW ARTISTS ARE AVAILABLE IN EVERY MEDIA EVERY YEAR. Historically 60% to 70% of our artists return, allowing ample opportunities for new artists. Over 70 artists will be invited from the Zapplication jury process with an additional group of artists selected for a waitlist. NEW IN 2010: CATEGORY REJURYING Beginning in 2010, each year several categories will be totally re-juried. All media will be entirely re-juried over a four year cycle as follows: 2010: Fiber & Jewelry will be entirely re-juried. 2012: Painting, Drawing/Graphics/Prints 2013: Photography, Mixed Media, Glass 2009 ARTISTS RETURNING IN FIBER & JEWELRY: Artists who participated in the 2009 show in fiber and jewelry will be entirely re-juried, but pay no jury fee (use coupon code "2009" in the jury fee pay method). Deadline for entry is MARCH 7. You may submit your entry via Zapplication or you may mail your entry with a CD of 3 digital images of your work. See CD file preparation information below. You will be notified by email March 23. Booth/competition entry fees for artists accepted in these categories will be due APRIL 7, via Zapplication or mail. Painting (watercolors, oils, acrylics) Graphics/Prints/Digital Art/Drawing (includes charcoal, pastels graphite, colored pencil, ink) Ceramics Sculpture Wood Photography Mixed Media Jewelry Glass Fiber MEDIA NOTES The Wyoming Art Show reserves the right to re-categorize an artist’s submission. Every attempt will be made to notify the artist if this is done. Reproduction policy: All reproductions (giclees, etc) must be clearly labeled as such. Digital Art: Includes any original work in which the original image, or the manipulation of other source material, was executed by the artist using the computer. Work must be editions, signed and numbered, on archival papers, inks, and emulsions. Printmaking: In this category, only hand pulled original prints (signed and numbered limited editions) are acceptable. Photography: please describe your methodology regarding: digital/film, hand or commercially processed. Please explain in the "Description of Materials and Technique" section of the application. Jewelers: please explain your process and materials. Are all components hand-fabricated by you? Are some components pre-manufactured? Please explain in the "Description of Materials and Technique" section of the application. Fiber: Wearable fiber pieces must be the artist’s original designs and not fabricated from purchased patterns. Artists will be notified of jury results by email about March 23, 2010. Results will not be given over the phone or sent in the mail. FEES: Jury Fee $20.00 non-refundable Note: Artists who participated in 2009, see important information above in NEW IN 2010. Entry fees (payable upon acceptance): $65.00 Outside selling space and one competition entry $75.00 Outside selling space and two Competition entries $50.00 Competition only - one entry (no outside selling space) $60.00 Competition only - two entries (no outside selling space) CANCELLATION POLICY: Refunds for cancellations received by May 1 will be made for entry fee minus a $20 processing fee. No refunds will be made after that date. EXHIBITOR WAITLIST: Artists placed on our waitlist will be notified in the jury results correspondence. We will make every effort to contact you as soon as we know about cancellations. OVER $4,500 IN CASH PRIZE AWARDS: $500 BEST OF SHOW $300 2ND PLACE / $200 3RD PLACE/ TEN $100 CATEGORY AWARDS TEN HONORABLE MENTION AWARDS OF $50 EACH $300 PAT PAINER MEMORIAL WATERCOLOR AWARD PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARD: FREE ENTRY IN 2010 FIFTEEN OUTSIDE BOOTH AWARDS OF $75 EACH OVER $500 IN AWARDS TO COMMUNITY HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ARTISTS: ALL WORK MUST BE OF THE ARTIST’S OWN CREATION. No manufactured or commercially made or assembled items will be permitted in the show. One artist only per space. Applicant may exhibit and compete in only one category per entry fee. Representatives may not attend in place of the artist. The artist presence during the show is required. Artists are responsible for setting up and dismantling their display. Artists not prepared at the appropriate time for judging of awards will not be considered. Artists are responsible for all sales transactions and payment of all sales taxes. Outside selling space is assigned by the committee. EXHIBITOR DISPLAY BOOTHS: Booth spaces are 15’ wide by 10’ deep. Displays must be professional and aesthetically pleasing. Booth space only is provided. Artists are expected to provide their own 10x10 canopied tents. There may be some room for storage behind the tents depending upon your assigned booth location. WYOMING ART SHOW: AN "ARTIST’S ART SHOW" Our attention to the needs of our artists has earned us a reputation as an "Artist’s Art Show". Our artists enjoy our extensive publicity in newspapers and web-based art events calendars, generous prize awards, refreshments during set-up, the professionally exhibited and labeled competition display, committee delivery of competition art to the Civic Center, our reception for all artists at the conclusion of the show, with awards presentation and refreshments. DAY OF SHOW: May 16....RAIN OR SHINE EVENT! 8 a.m. Registration and setup 8 a.m.— 9:30 a.m. All artwork for competition MUST be inside Civic Center (Early delivery is also available Saturday, May 15th, 9:30 a.m.—1:00 p.m. ) 11:00 a.m. Street booth show opens for public and judging of awards 12:00 p.m. Inside Competition in Civic Center opens to the public 5:30 p.m. Artist Reception and presentation of awards in Civic Center (Please leave all art work for the competition inside the Civic Center until after the award presentations.) FREE 2010 WYOMING ART SHOW TEE-SHIRT: All accepted artists receive a FREE 2010 Wyoming Art Show tee shirt the day of the show. Additional tee shirts are available for purchase at $15 each; order information will be sent with acceptance information. COMPETITION REQUIREMENTS: To qualify for judging, art work for competition must be inside the Civic Center, 1 Worthington Ave., Wyoming, OH 45215 no later than 9:30 a.m. Sunday, May 16. Optional early drop off for competition pieces is offered on Saturday, May 15, 9:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. Accepted work for competition must be ready for display. Two-dimensional work must be framed and wired for hanging. If entry exceeds 36" in any direction or is not suitable for table display, the artist must provide their own support, display fixture or easel. No commission is charged; however, neither is the Wyoming Art Show authorized to transact any sales. Artists wishing to sell competition entries must handle the transactions themselves. All reasonable precautions will be taken for the safety of the artists’ work. All insurance for the Wyoming Art Show is the responsibility of the artist prior to, during & after the show. Release: I hereby release and forever discharge Wyoming Art! Inc., The Wyoming Art Show, the City of Wyoming, all sponsoring organizations, and their directors, officers, employees, agents and volunteers from any responsibility, personal liability, claims, loss or damage arising out of or in conjunction with my application to or participation in Wyoming Art Show. Wyoming Art! Inc. will not be responsible for any injury sustained by exhibitors or guests while within space designated for exhibits. I agree that any pictures taken of my work in connection with this show or organization can be used for publicity without compensation. Further, I understand that I store my art at my own risk without exception or limitation. By agreeing to these terms and submitting this application form, the Applicant acknowledges having read the 2009 Wyoming Art Show Application, and agrees to abide by all rules set forth herein. Applicant agrees that images submitted for jurying are representative of work to be exhibited and that Wyoming Art! Inc., reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to advise Applicant of any work that does not meet the standards set forth and Applicant agrees that such work will be immediately removed upon request by Wyoming Art! Inc. officials. Failure to remove such work or to abide by other rules set forth may result in Applicant's removal from Wyoming Art Show and/or Applicant being prohibited from future participation.
